Resort Pool Deck Renewal
Deep cleaning and protective sealing of a 3,800 sq. ft. travertine pool deck and outdoor terrace at a five-star oceanfront resort, eliminating mineral deposits, algae staining, and UV-induced discoloration.
The Need
Years of coastal exposure had left 3,800 sq. ft. of travertine pool surround heavily stained, slick with algae growth, and sealed with degraded original coatings.
Service Performed
Pressure-assisted stone cleaning, efflorescence removal, algaecide treatment, and application of a UV-stable, slip-resistant sealer across the full outdoor terrace.
Timeline
3-day off-peak execution during a scheduled resort closure, with pool area reopened within 48 hours of sealer cure.
The Challenge
Salt air, pool chemicals, and intense California sun had created a compound degradation problem. Calcium deposits had bonded to the porous travertine surface, algae had colonized the grout network, and the original slip-resistant finish had worn completely through, creating a liability risk for the resort's pool staff and guests.
Our Cleaning Process
Stone Diagnostics
Moisture reading and deposit analysis to determine appropriate chemical concentrations and equipment pressure settings.
Chemical Pre-Treatment
Biodegradable, pH-neutral cleaners applied to break down mineral deposits, biological growth, and old sealer residue.
Pressure Extraction
Surface scrubbing and controlled-pressure rinse that removes all loosened contaminants without abrasion damage to the stone.
UV-Stable Sealing
Application of a penetrating, UV-resistant, slip-rated impregnating sealer that protects against coastal moisture and chemical exposure.
"Our pool terrace looks better than it did on opening day. The CATA team was invisible to our guests, completely professional."
