Medical Center Corridor Refinish

High-performance grinding and diamond polishing of 120,000 sq. ft. of existing concrete floors across a major hospital wing, delivering a hygienic, durable, and LEED-compliant surface without facility downtime.

Hospital corridor after refinish

The Need

A newly expanded hospital wing required floor refinishing across 120,000 sq. ft. of concrete that showed cracking, spalling, and pitting from construction traffic and aging substrate.

Service Performed

Concrete grinding, crack repair, densifier application, and multi-stage diamond polishing to achieve a Class B reflective finish meeting healthcare infection-control standards.

Timeline

12-day phased rollout across four floor sections, with strict ICRA compliance and after-hours scheduling to protect active patient care areas.

The Challenge

Construction-phase abuse had left the concrete substrate cracked and uneven, with surface laitance creating a dusty, porous environment incompatible with healthcare hygiene standards. The active hospital environment required a zero-dust protocol, strict containment barriers, and phased access that kept every patient corridor fully operational throughout the project.

Methodology

Our Concrete Process

01 / GRIND

Coarse Grinding

Removing surface laitance, high spots, and damaged concrete using industrial diamond-segmented tooling with HEPA dust containment.

02 / REPAIR

Crack & Joint Repair

Filling cracks and saw-cut joints with semi-rigid polyurea to maintain structural movement tolerance while eliminating tripping and hygiene risks.

03 / DENSIFY

Lithium Densification

Penetrating lithium silicate densifier chemically hardens the concrete matrix, dramatically increasing surface durability and abrasion resistance.

04 / POLISH

Multi-Stage Polish

Progressive resin-bonded diamond pads refine the surface through 50, 100, 200, and 400 grit stages to achieve a Class B reflective finish.
